26th March 2019

We really should be more on the ball with the website.  However, we have been busy in the studio.

I enjoyed working with Big Raymie Wilson again.  Duke Street's answer to the odd-couple.  I am pleased with the tracks recorded so far.   The plan is to release a single in May from the EP which will follow in the summer.

We have a modest UK tour lined up for August  hitting all the high spots from the Acoustic Music Centre at the official Edinburgh Festival Fringe to the Isle of Arran including all points north and anywhere in between (watch local press for details).

1st October 2018

Whilst the past nine months or so has been relatively quiet (this was due mainly to visa difficulties for US tour) the time has been spent putting together new material and revamping the performance to reflect the increasing influence of Americana.  Charlie has found himself astride both the Folk and the Americana camps without a firm footing in either.  Maybe that's what makes his shows so enjoyable to such a broad church.  We are also in discussion with a new management team.

16rh Feb 2017 - Summer/Autumn European Tour announced covering UK, Netherlands, Germany and possibly Denmark.  Now filling dates - see Contact Page.  The working title for 2017 tour is " So Lonesome In The Saddle", or to give its full title "It's Been So Lonesome In The Saddle Since My Horse Died".  The solo show features the 2016 album Wasted and Wounded in addition to new material from Charlie's own pen,  as well as that of good friend Raymie Wilson and plethora of influences including Canada's 11 times Juno Award Winner - Paisley born Murray McLauchlan (he left Ferguslie Park in 1953 aged 5).   Watch local press for further details.

A new single is due for release this summer.    Somewhat different from the back to basics of Wasted & Wounded, the new single will reflect the more edgy direction and bigger sound of  Charlie going forward.    Watch this space!

This effort is proving to be quite eclectic; sometimes I think I am in Greenwich Village in the sixties (I couldn't have been, I had to go to school).  Then I remeber that Liam Clancy was a neighbour for a short time when I lived in Calgary.   Oh, then I'm a cowboy (not a proper one though - I'm no good with horses).

Some of the tracks I've got down already include: The Lady Came From Baltimore, Whisky Basin Blues, Sporting Life Blues and Jimmie Rodgers' Waiting For A Train.  Then I think I'd better do something Scottish and started scouring Ord's Ballads - Van Diemen's Land I love but I got the arranegement from Davy Stewart of Fife.

Of course no peformance nowadays is complete without a bit of Tom Waits.  Nearly forgot - we have a new voice on the Glasgow scene I just love, as well as some of her songs - Mary Jean Lewis (her uncle is the one and only Jerry Lee Lewis - it's a long story).   :-)

Currently working on a new recording featuring songs by the likes of Glasgow's very own Frankie Miller, Canada's Murray McLauchlan and Utah Phillips.
